Setting up the application portfolio management workspace
The application portfolio management template is a preconfigured workspace template with which you can manage your application portfolio. You can create a workspace that is based on this template and then customize the workspace according to your requirements.
With the template, you can:
▪ capture application inventory
▪ define and manage the application lifecycle
▪ create relationships between strategic objectives, application portfolios, projects, business units, and other elements
▪ align your application portfolio with strategic objectives
▪ analyze and monitor application portfolio health
▪ make informed decisions about your portfolio
▪ manage investment levels and application transformation to reach target investment levels
▪ define and manage a lifecycle for assessing applications, including gathering data through surveys
▪ determine opportunities for application rationalization and modernization
▪ identify application transformation projects
▪ develop business cases for application transformation projects
▪ manage an application transformation road map
▪ display data in analytical views, such as investment analysis, modernization targets, and the results of top-down and bottom-up application analysis.
The application portfolio management template has predefined roles, such as application business owner, portfolio analyst, and PMO. In addition, you can create and configure your own roles. Each role has a home page. A home page consists of one or more windows that contain information that is relevant to a role or user.
You can add a module in the workspace and add attributes to the module. When you add a module, create the required views and assign them to the appropriate roles. You can also delete any modules or attributes in the modules.
The application portfolio management workspace has predefined views that are based on roles. In addition to the predefined views, you can add new views that are based on roles. Before you add a view, determine the roles that can access the view.
