Customize attribute layout using the Layout Designer
You can customize the display of attributes in the attribute list page using the layout designer.
About this task
Attributes in the attribute list page are normally arranged in a sequential order with one attribute occupying a complete row. With the Layout Designer, the administrator can now arrange the attributes in a grid layout. The administrator can also specify the relative positioning of each attribute by specifying the number of columns each attribute occupies in the grid layout. The width of the attribute labels can also be specified here.
Procedure
1 Go to Configure > Workspace and select the Enable Custom Attribute Layout setting.
2 Open the Configure > Attributes page and select the module from the list. This will display the list of attributes belonging to the module. Click on the Layout Designer button.
3 In the Layout Designer, enter the number of columns of the grid and click Go button. This will display the attributes arranged in a grid layout. The Auto Layout option is on by default. When this option is on, complex attributes will continue to occupy a single row irrespective of the number of columns of the grid layout.
4 When Auto Layout is disabled, all attributes and complex attributes are treated equally. Each attribute occupies one cell in the grid layout and the column span is one unless you manually change it.
5 Use the Edit link provided along with the attribute names to change the column span of each attribute. If the column span is not specified, the complex attribute continues to occupy a single row with auto layout.
6 Use the Attribute Label Size (px) setting to specify the width of the attribute labels specified in the layout. When the Layout Designer is not used, the width of the attribute label is decided by the maximum size of the attribute names.
