Updating elements by importing a spreadsheet
If you previously exported elements from a worksheet and have subsequently made changes to the worksheet, you can update the elements by importing from the changed worksheet. The export or import for the Link, Link List and Matrix attribute types differs from other attribute types.
Before you begin
You must have a worksheet that contains the attributes of elements. Optionally, you can include the attribute names in the worksheet.
Procedure
1 Click Display and select a view.
2 Select Table structure. You can only update the attributes that are editable in the Display view.
3 Click Update Elements.
4 In the Update frame, click Browse to select the Microsoft Excel file. Select the worksheet that contains the elements and their attributes.
5 In the Matrix setup, do these tasks:
If each row in the worksheet contains the attributes of an element, select Each ROW.
If each column in the worksheet contains the attributes of an element, select Each COLUMN.
6 To include any matrix attributes in your update, select Allow import to Matrix attributes. Click OK.
7 Select the information to update.
For optimal performance, large files are updated in chunks. Select Fetch size from Maximum number of rows per page if applicable. The page index is updated accordingly.
8 Select which attribute to use as identifier in the top choice field. This field shows all attributes displayed in the view, both readable and editable attributes.
9 Select which attributes to use for the columns. If the first row or column of the Excel sheet contains attribute names, the attributes are automatically selected.
10 Select the check boxes of the elements to update. You can double click the value to edit the value of a cell, and then click Save before updating the value.
11 Click Update.
