The subscription mechanism allows a regular user to subscribe for change notifications on an element. All attributes that log changes on that element send notification messages when the attribute value changes. However, a user sees only the change messages that they have access to through the first available subscription view from that module.
To configure this feature, the Administrator has to complete the following steps:
1 From the Configure menu, select View. Create a new view on the desired module. Select the Subscribe checkbox. Any user who has access to this view can use this for subscribing to element changes. For better performance, hide all unnecessary attributes in the view. Only the key attributes that need to send notification alerts should be visible in the view.
2 Share access to this view with the necessary users. Administrators can create multiple subscribe views with different view rules and attributes and share them accordingly with users. This would enable role-based access to the subscription mechanism.
To subscribe to an element, a regular user can use any display view that contains the element, provided that the user has access to this element through the first subscription view. In order to subscribe, select an element in the tree view and then click on the Subscribe icon in the title bar of the element display page.
