Lesson 1: Log in
This lesson describes how to log in to Focal Point.
Prerequisites
The Focal Point application server must be running.
Log in as a global administrator. If you have problems logging in with the example user, ask your system administrator for valid login credentials.

To log in
1 In a web browser, type the URL of the Focal Point login page in this format:
http://server/fp/login
or
https://server/fp/login
For example:
http://rfpserver:8080/fp/login
If you use the Tomcat server that is provided with Focal Point, you can open the application in a secured environment. For example:
https://rfpserver:8080/fp/login
If you are using Websphere application server and face problems while opening Focal Point, restart the Websphere application server instance. Here is an example of how to stop and start the application server instance:
From the command prompt, go to:
C:\Program Files (x86)\IBM\WebSphere\AppServer\profiles\AppSrv01\bin
To stop the server instance in which Focal Point is deployed to server1, run:
stopServer.bat server1
To start the server instance, run:
startServer.bat server1
2 On the Login page: In the User Name field, type admin. In the Password field, type focalpoint.
3 Click Log In.
You are logged in.
