UNICOM Intelligence Interviewer - Server Admin architecture
UNICOM Intelligence Interviewer - Server Admin is a simple tool for controlling access to a variety of Server Admin activities. It is based around a SQL Server database that stores information about projects and users. Administrators and users access the database for different purposes.
Administrators access the database to:
add and remove users
allow or disallow access to Web activities
assign permissions to users or remove permissions from them
change a user's password, for example, if the user has forgotten it
force users to change their passwords at next login
remove projects.
Users access the database to:
create a new project or choose an existing project to work on
change their passwords
assign permissions to colleagues for projects under their control.
Activities that are to be run from Server Admin each have an XML configuration document that describes the activity and the types of projects that it can be used with. This document also defines default settings, such as the base language, that are to be applied when the activity starts, either for all users or just for named users. It can also be used to restrict access to features within the activity. For example, a user may be able to create projects but not delete them.
When a user runs Server Admin, the user's project list is built by comparing project entries in DPM with the Server Admin database of user permissions. When the user chooses a project, Server Admin generates the list of activities that can be run for that project by comparing the project's settings in DPM with the project requirements specified in each activity's XML document.
