Creating and saving project templates
UNICOM Intelligence Author and UNICOM Intelligence Professional come with a number of templates that you can base new questionnaires on. The templates (stored as .ptz files) are organized into a number of folders. It is easy to amend the templates and add new templates and template folders.
To create a new questionnaire from a template
1 From the menu, choose File > New > Project or press Alt+F, N, P.
This opens the Select Project Template dialog box. The left side of the dialog box lists the available template folders.
2 On the left side of the dialog box, select the required folder. The right side of the dialog box now displays the templates that are contained in the selected folder.
3 Select the template you want to use.
4 Click Select.
To save a questionnaire as a project template
1 From the menu, choose File > Save As or press Alt+F, A.
2 Use the Save As dialog box to browse to the folder where you want to save the questionnaire as a template.
When the source .mdd file specifies a TemplateLocation, all files that exist in the specified template location will be included in the template .ptz file. For example, if the source .mdd file specifies your desktop as the TemplateLocation, all files on your desktop will be packaged into the resulting project template .ptz file. As such, you must ensure that you select an appropriate TemplateLocation.
3 Select the file extension .ptz.
4 Enter a name for the file and choose Save.
Note Remember that depending on the folder location to which you saved the template, you may need to copy or move the saved file to another location to be able to select it in UNICOM Intelligence Professional.
To edit an existing project template
1 From the menu, choose File > Open > File or press Alt+O, F.
2 In the Open dialog box select the file extension .ptz and browse to the folder where your templates are held.
3 Select the template you want to edit and then click Open.
4 Edit and save the file in the normal way.
