Checking Internet Explorer settings for Survey Tabulation, Survey Reporter Server Edition, and Author Server Edition
After installation, check your Internet Explorer settings before running Survey Tabulation, Survey Reporter Server Edition, and Author Server Edition. The following changes might be required to ensure that the programs run correctly.
To set general internet options
1 From the Internet Explorer menu, choose: Tools > Internet Options
This displays the Internet Options dialog box.
2 On the General tab, click Delete Files and confirm your request when asked to do so (it is up to you whether you also choose to delete offline content). This ensures that any temporary files from previous releases of the programs are removed.
3 Click Settings. In the Settings dialog, ensure that "Check for newer versions of stored pages" is set to either Every visit to the page or Automatically.
To set security internet options
1 On the Security tab of the Internet Options dialog box, select Trusted Sites, and then click Sites.
2 In the Trusted Sites dialog, add the URL for the program’s website to the list of trusted websites, and then click OK.
3 Select Trusted Sites and set the Security level for this zone slider to Medium. Medium provides the required options for UNICOM Intelligence Reporter - Survey Tabulation or UNICOM Intelligence Reporter to function.
To set security internet options when running UNICOM Intelligence Reporter - Survey Tabulation GUI server and Web service on different computers
1 On the Security tab of the Internet Options dialog box, select the zone, and then click Custom Level
2 In the Miscellaneous section, select Enable or Prompt for "Access data sources across domains". This is necessary even if the UNICOM Intelligence Reporter - Survey Tabulation Front End and Web Service are in the same domain.
To set advanced Internet options
On the Advanced tab of the Internet Options dialog box:
Under Browsing, ensure that "Show friendly HTTP error messages" is not selected.
Under Security, ensure that "Do not save encrypted pages to disk" is not selected. See Configuring the browser to save encrypted pages to disk.
To enable file downloads
Follow the instructions that the browser provides the first time it is unable to download a file. The changes made at this point enable all subsequent file downloads in UNICOM Intelligence Reporter - Survey Tabulation, UNICOM Intelligence Reporter Server Edition, or UNICOM Intelligence Author Server Edition.
