Define tab
You define the structure of your tables on the Define tab. Click the Define tab to bring it to the front.
The Define tab is in two sections:
Variable list
Lists the variables you can use to create your tables.
Table Definition section
This displays a graphical representation of the table and details of the table structure. Use this area to create your tables. You can display the Table Definition section in one of two views:
Simple view. Displays a graphical representation of the structure of the table, as well as the table description and information about any filters applied. Use this view to create tables.
Advanced view. In addition to the information displayed in the simple view, the advanced view displays the top and side specifications for the table, details of any table weighting and table levels, and a button to display the script for the table. Use this view to display additional details and to fine-tune your tables.
Resizing the areas
You can use standard Windows techniques to resize these areas. For example, you may want to make the Variable List wider when you are looking for variables and make it smaller when you are fine-tuning the structure of the table.
Defining the structure of a table
The Define tab provides several different ways of defining the structure of a table. For example:
Drag the icon next to a variable in the Variable List and drop it into position in the Table Definition section.
Click a variable in the Variable List and click the position in the Table Definition section in which you want it to appear.
Type the specification of each axis into the Top and Side text boxes in the advanced view of the Table Definition section. See Table and axis syntax for more information.
Drag an icon from the Variable List and drop it into position in the Top or Side text box in the advanced view of the Table Definition section.
Copy all or part of another table and paste it into position in your new table.
Use a combination of any of these methods.
When you define a table, UNICOM Intelligence Reporter - Survey Tabulation updates the specification in the Side and Top text boxes in the advanced view of the Table Definition section. Similarly, if you update the specification in these text boxes, UNICOM Intelligence Reporter - Survey Tabulation updates the graphical representation of the table.
