Creating an MDM document from an SPSS Statistics.sav file
When you use the MDSC capability of the SPSS Statistics SAV DSC to read metadata from a
.sav file, the SPSS Statistics SAV DSC creates an in-memory MDM document, which you can save as an
.mdd file. You might want to do this so you can use the .
mdd file to read the .
sav file at a later date. Using a .
mdd file to read a large .
sav file can improve performance when loading the .
sav file in UNICOM Intelligence Reporter, for example. For more information, see the second question in
Troubleshooting when reading from a .sav file.
To create an .mdd file from a .sav file
1 Open Metadata Model Explorer. For information on how to do this, see Metadata Model Explorer.
2 From the File menu in Metadata Model Explorer, choose Open MDSC.
3 In the Open Metadata Source Component dialog, browse to the folder that the .sav file is in.
4 Double-click the .sav file you want to open.
5 From the File menu, choose Save As.
6 In the Save Metadata Document As dialog, enter a File Name for the .mdd file and click Save.
For an mrScriptBasic example of creating an .
mdd file from a .
sav file, see
Example 6: Creating an .mdd file from a .sav file.
