Setting up the spreadsheet
UNICOM Intelligence Developer Documentation Library includes a sample spreadsheet you can modify. It describes how the spreadsheet is set up and which columns you must create. The file is called UsersAndRoles.xlsx, and it is usually in this folder:
[INSTALL_FOLDER]\IBM\SPSS\DataCollection\7\DDL\Administration Tools
Worksheets
The Excel spreadsheet can have any or all of the following worksheets:
Role worksheet
Users
Projects
Activities
UserProperties
GlobalFilters
Optional fields
You must create any properties and property groups before you import users and roles as the import process cannot create any that do not exist.
The columns mentioned for each worksheet are the ones that the import process requires. You can include other columns for your own purposes if you want, and the import process will ignore them.
If a worksheet does not exist, that part of the import process does not run.
Column lengths
The import process decides the length required for each column based on the first few rows of the spreadsheet. If a column contains text values longer than 255 characters, do one of the following:
Make sure that the longest values are in the first row to ensure that the import allocates enough space for that column.
In the following registry key, set the TypeGuessRows registry value to 0:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Access Connectivity Engine\Engines\Excel\
This forces the Excel Driver to check the first 16384 rows for the data type and length.
