Cleaning computers after uninstalling UNICOM Intelligence Interviewer
After uninstalling UNICOM Intelligence Interviewer (or any other UNICOM Intelligence product) you should not need to clean the computer before you can install a new version or reinstall the same version of UNICOM Intelligence Interviewer. However, if the uninstallation procedure fails, you clean the computer manually.
Do not clean the computer if there is another UNICOM Systems, Inc. product installed on it. If you delete files that are part of an installed product, you might break the uninstallation procedure for that product.
To clean the computer safely, follow these steps.
1: Installed UNICOM Intelligence Products
1 Check Add/Remove Programs for any UNICOM Intelligence products.
2 Uninstall using the Remove option in Add/Remove Programs.
2: File locations
Check which files are present in each location:
1 Common files
C:\Program Files\Common Files\IBM\SPSS\DataCollection\<version>\
Common Files should contain only two or three files. If there are more, double check that all products have been uninstalled and, if so, delete the files.
2 Application files (default)
[INSTALL_FOLDER]\IBM\SPSS\DataCollection\<version>\
Application files contains folders for projects and log files. Delete these. Answer Yes when asked to confirm deletion of \SPSSMR_FMRoot.
3 Web files (default)
Web files contains some temporary and cache folders. You can delete these.
C:\InetPub\wwwroot\SPSSMR\
3: Global Assembly Cache (GAC)
c:\WINDOWS\assembly
This folder contains shared .NET assemblies. Delete all the UNICOM Intelligence files listed in the next table. If you see the message “Assembly Cache Viewer – Uninstall failed Assembly 'AboutBox.resources' could not be uninstalled because it is required by other applications”, check again that there are no UNICOM Intelligence programs listed under Add/Remove Programs. If not, continue with the clean-up checklist.
4: Registry
1 Product keys: Delete the product keys for UNICOM Systems, Inc.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SPSS\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\SPSS
2 Shared DLL: Under the Shared DDL key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\SharedDlls
Delete any keys that match the folder locations you deleted in the previous step, that is:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\IBM\SPSS\DataCollection\7
[INSTALL_FOLDER]\IBM\SPSS\DataCollection\<version>\
and
C:\InetPub\wwwroot\SPSSMR\
3 .NET Global assembly:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Installer\Assemblies\Global
In the Global Assembly section, delete only the keys whose names match those shown in
.NET files added to the global assembly cache.
Then delete any UNICOM Intelligence files remaining in c:\WINDOWS\assembly (see previous step).
You will see other UNICOM Intelligence entries in the registry but they will not cause a reinstallation to fail, so there is no need to delete them.
5: IIS
From Control Panel, select Administrative Tools, Internet Information Services.
Under Application Pools, you will see:
SPSSDimensionNetPool
SPSSmrInterviewPool
Under Web Sites, Your Website, you will see:
SPSSMR
mrIWeb
mrIEngWS
The files that might be references in IIS have been deleted already, so any virtual folders or application pools remaining in IIS will be tagged with an error icon. For each application pool and virtual folder mentioned in the first column, select the folder and delete it.
6: Services
mrDPMServer3
mrUserAdminServer
You should not see any UNICOM Intelligence Interviewer services listed in the Services menu. If a service does remain on the computer, perhaps because it was running when the program file was delete, restart the computer, and then recheck the Services menu to ensure that it is no longer there.
7: Dcomcnfg
1 From the Start menu, select Start Run and type dcomcfnfg
This opens the Component Services dialog.
2 In the left frame expand Component Services to show the contents of Computers, My Computer. Click DCOM Config.
3 If the right frame shows any of the following, restart the computer, and then repeat this step. These items should no longer appear.
Logbcko2
mrPrepro
mrScriptLP
mrUserAdminServer
OAgent2
8: Task Manager
1 Select the Process tab. You might see the following UNICOM Intelligence processes listed:
Logbcko2
OAgent2
mrUserAdminServer
mrDPMServer3
2 Either select each process in turn and click End Process, or restart the computer to make sure they are removed.
9: Export files
c:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files
This folder might contain some export files from UNICOM Intelligence Reporter - Survey Tabulation or the Phone Reports activity. Delete any UNICOM Intelligence Reporter - Survey Tabulation Export Class files.
10: Restart the computer
After you have completed these tasks, restart the computer before you install another product.
