Remote interviewers
Interviewers do not have to work in the same location as the dialer; they can work remotely, either at home or in a different office. Interviewers who work in the same location as the dialer use physical extensions on the dialer. When an interviewer works remotely, the dialer calls the interviewer and sets up a virtual extension that it then treats as a real extension. These virtual extensions are called Remote Extensions and they consist of a master and slave component. The master component of the extension is used to connect to the remote interviewer and the slave component is used to connect to the participant, just like a regular extension.
The Phone Participants and Review Interviewers activities support remote interviewing. Refer to the Dialer Administration activity for information on configuring the dialer configuration file for remote interviewers.
