Creating batches
Batching is a feature that can only be used with a Data Entry project, or the Data Entry portion of a multi-modal project.
A new batch is created by default when you open a project for the first time in Interviewer Console. The default batch name is the same as the opened project's name. You do not need to do anything further to setup the batch if you do not want to work with multiple batches.
You can rename a batch, by displaying the batch’s Properties window. For more information, see Viewing batch properties.
To create additional batches when you want to work with multiple project batches
Do one of these:
Click Workflow > New Batch, or press Alt+W, N.
Click the arrow next to the Batch menu in the Interviewer Console toolbar, or press Alt+B.
The Create Batch window opens.

In the Basic view, you can change the new batch’s name. The default name is based on the project name, followed by a sequence number.
To change the batch’s name, delete the batch name, and then type a new name. Click Create, or press Alt+R. The Data Entry Player opens, and you can key the batch’s first case.
To change to the Advanced view, click Advanced.
Advanced view
The Create Batch window’s Advanced view displays the following:
the system-generated batch name. You can change this.
the system-generated ID number that uses for internal tracking.
case statistics, including the number of cases currently in the batch, and a total for each mode’s entry status. For a new batch, this is 0. For more information, see Case entry status labels.
a text box to enter notes, for example: specific batch characteristics, keying operator names, document tracking data, and so on.
a Print Tracking Sheet button that generates a printable document. The document can be attached to a physical document bundle for tracking movement within an operation. For more information, see Batch tracking sheet.
Click Create, or press Alt+R, to confirm the new batch, based on the information you configured in the Create Batch window. The Data Entry Player opens, and you can key the batch’s first case.
To change to the Basic view, click Basic.
