Adding a paired preference or a net difference test
If you are applying a paired preference test or a net difference test to a table, the process is slightly different from that for other statistical tests, as you also need to add a row or column to the table to contain the results.
To add a paired preference or a net difference test
1 In the Tables pane, select the table to which you want to apply the test.
2 On the table, select the variable on which you want to run the test.
In the case of the Net difference test, this must be on the top of the table; for the paired preference test it can be either on the top or on the side.
3 Click: Variables > Edit Table Variable.
4 On the Edit Table Variable window menu, choose Categories Insert Categories or click the Insert button This graphic is described in the surrounding text..
The Insert Categories dialog opens. This contains a list of all the items that you can add to a variable. In this case, you need to add either a paired preference or a net difference item, depending on the type of test you want to run.
5 Select the item in the Available list, and then click the >> button to move it to the Items to insert list.
6 Click OK.
7 In the Edit Table Variable window, ensure that the new item is at the bottom of the list of categories, using the move down button This graphic is described in the surrounding text..
8 Click Save and Close.
9 Add the test to the table. See Adding a statistical test for more information.
