Creating compound questions
A compound groups a number of questions that share a category list. Compounds are typically used in paper questionnaires, to present a number of separate questions that use the same response list side-by-side on the page.
▪Questions inside the compound should always be empty.
▪A compound question must have responses in order to properly function.
Creating a new compound
1 Click Insert > Question > Compound, or press Alt+I, Q, C.
2 Create the questions, and the associated responses, that you want to add to the compound.
3 Select the questions in the Routings or Questions pane by using Shift+click or Ctrl+click.
4 Drag the selected questions into the new compound.
Adding questions to a new compound clears the question category lists. Even though questions can share the same responses, they should be added to the compound question if there are no shared responses already defined for the compound. UNICOM Intelligence Author clears the question elements when they are moved or grouped into a compound.
6 (Optional.) Type a compound description in the field under Name. The description displays at the top of the page.
