UNICOM Intelligence Data Merge (Merge Cases): Specify Additional Files pane
Use this pane to select one or more additional survey data files to merge with the first file, and optionally to add a variable to the merged file that contains information about each of the source data files.
Add a variable that describes the data set
Enables you to add a variable to the output file to describe each input data file. The new variable is included in the merged output file, and all of the records in each of the source files are given a single value for this variable.
For example, if you have three files containing data for January, February, and March, you could create a variable called Month, and enter the month for each survey data file. When you open the file in UNICOM Intelligence Reporter, all the cases from the March data file display a value of March in the Month variable.
▪If your survey data files already include a variable that contains this information, click Use Existing, and then select the variable from the dialog that appears next.
▪If your survey data files do not include a suitable variable, select Add a variable, and then enter a name for the variable, for example, Month. Then enter a value for each of the source files in the Enter description field (by default, the name of the file is used as the description).
Add
Displays an Open dialog where you can select the files that you want to include in the merge.
