ReadSoft FORMS requires a field definition for each area on the paper questionnaire from which data is to be captured. These areas are where respondents record their answers. Field definitions define where the fields are located, what type of data they will contain, verification information, and so on. UNICOM Intelligence Interviewer - Paper/Scan Add‑on creates these field definitions during the Transfer to Scanning Software process.

After the transfer, you can view and, if necessary, change the field definitions that were created by UNICOM Intelligence Interviewer - Paper/Scan Add‑on. To do this, go into ReadSoft FORMS Manager and double-click the field whose definition you want to view.

The field definitions that UNICOM Intelligence Interviewer - Paper/Scan Add‑on creates vary according to what type of question the field records a response to. UNICOM Intelligence Interviewer - Paper/Scan Add‑on defines the same validation settings for all responses of the same type: categorical, numeric, and open-ended. You define the validation settings to be used for each of these types in the UNICOM Intelligence Interviewer - Paper/Scan Add‑on Options dialog.
