Data Link Properties: Connection
Use the Connection tab in the Data Link Properties dialog to define the DSC you want to use, and the name and location of the exported data.
Metadata type
This should always be set to UNICOM Intelligence Metadata Document.
Metadata location
The name and location of the questionnaire definition (.mdd) file. You do not need to change this because UNICOM Intelligence Scan Transfer sets it up for you.
Open metadata Read/Write
Always select this check box.
Properties
Click this button to specify the version of the questionnaire definition to use for the export.
Case data type
Selects the DSC. The drop-down list shows all of the types of case data for which you have a suitable DSC. The default options are:
Option
Description
Quantum Data File (DAT)
Selects the Quantum CDSC, which writes data to a Quantum-format ASCII file for analysis in Quantum or for generation into a Quanvert database.

Before you transfer the data using Quantum CDSC, ensure that there are appropriate card and column definitions in the questionnaire definition for all of the variables. If these were not defined in the authoring tool, you can define them using Metadata Model to Quantum.
UNICOM Intelligence Database (MS SQL Server)
Writes case data in an UNICOM Intelligence relational database in SQL Server.
If you are also collecting data using UNICOM Intelligence Interviewer Server, you can export the data to the same database. However, UNICOM Intelligence Interviewer Server serial numbers are generated automatically, which can lead to the potential for serial number conflicts if serial numbers are included in the scanned data.

So when you are sharing a database with UNICOM Intelligence Interviewer Server data, it is recommended that you do not include a serial number with the scanned data.
You can suppress the serial number from the paper questionnaire using the Ignore System Variables option in the UNICOM Intelligence Interviewer - Paper Load dialog. The Respondent.Origin system variable distinguishes records collected using UNICOM Intelligence Interviewer Server and UNICOM Intelligence Interviewer - Paper/Scan Add‑on.
IBM SPSS Statistics File (SAV)
Selects the SPSS SAV DSC, which writes data to a IBM SPSS Statistics .sav file for analysis in IBM SPSS Statistics.
UNICOM Intelligence XML Data File
Selects the XML CDSC, which writes case data to an XML file. Typically, you use this option when you want to transfer case data to another location.
Delimited Text File (CSV)
Selects the Delimited Text CDSC, which writes case data to a text (.csv) file.
UNICOM Intelligence Data File
Selects the Data File DSC, which writes data to a .ddf file.
SAS File
Selects the SAS DSC, which writes data to a .sas7bdat file.
Triple-S File
Selects the Triple-S DSC, which writes data to an .xml file in Triple-S-compatible format.
For further information about Metadata Model to Quantum, system variables, how the .sav file variables are named and defined, and transferring data from one location to another, see the UNICOM Intelligence Data Model online help, which is in the UNICOM Intelligence Developer Documentation Library.
Case data location
The name and location of the case data. The way you specify this depends on the type of case data you selected in the previous field:
Option
Description
Quantum Data File (DAT)
The name of the .dat file. If a .dau file is created, it will have the same name, but with the filename extension of .dau.
UNICOM Intelligence Database (MS SQL Server)
The name of the data source (the database must be set up as a data source on your machine)
IBM SPSS Statistics File (SAV)
The name of the .sav file
UNICOM Intelligence XML Data File
The name of the .xml file
Delimited Text File (CSV)
The name of the .csv file
Data Collection Data File
The name of the .ddf file
SAS File
The name of the .sas7bdat file
Triple-S File
The name of the .xml file
Click Browse to go to the location of the case data.
Case data project
Enter the name of the project. This option is relevant only if you selected the relational database option.
Test connection
Click this button to test the connection. This enables you to see whether you have filled out all of the options correctly.
