WinDMSRun window: Normal tab
You use the Normal tab to set up the connection string and select query for the InputDataSource section (see
InputDataSource section) and the connection string for the OutputDataSource section (see
OutputDataSource section) of your DMS file.
1. Select input data
Opens the Data Link Properties dialog, which you can use to build the connection string for the input data source. Typically, the dialog opens on the
Data Link Properties: Connection tab with the UNICOM Intelligence OLE DB Provider selected on the
Data Link Properties: Provider tab. However, the behavior depends on the DMS file you are working on or, on your default DMS file, if you are starting a new file. Both the MDSC and the CDSC you select must be read-enabled. If you are using a Metadata Document (
.mdd) file, it must be writable and you must select
Open metadata read/wwrite. If you want to select all versions or one or more specific versions, click
Properties. For more information, see
WinDMSRun window: Selecting versions. On the
Data Link Properties: Advanced tab, make sure that
Return data as category values is selected. For more information, see
Reading data.
2. Select output data
Opens the Data Link Properties dialog, to build the connection string for the output data source. The dialog typically opens on the
Data Link Properties: Connection tab with the UNICOM Intelligence OLE DB Provider selected on the
Data Link Properties: Provider tab. Select
None for the Metadata Type. The CDSC you select must be write-enabled. On the
Data Link Properties: Advanced tab, make sure that
Return data as category values is selected and select the validation options you require (see
Validation options when transferring data). For more information, see
Writing data.
3. Select output metadata
Opens the Save As dialog, in which you can specify the name and location of the output metadata file.
4. Select variables to transfer
Opens the Variable Selection dialog, which lists all of the variables defined in the MDM Document and which you use to define the metadata filter. Either deselect
Select all and then select the individual variables you want to transfer, or select
Select all to transfer all of the variables. For more information, see
WinDMSRun window: Variable Selection.
5. Select filtering of data to transfer
Opens the Case Selection dialog, which contains some options and lists that you can use to define a case data filter. For more information, see
WinDMSRun window: Case Selection.
6. Execute job
Run the job. However, this does not validate the job before running it. You should validate it first by clicking Tools > Validate Job.
