Working with Change Tracker
Whenever possible, the Variables Interface should be used instead of Change Tracker. The Variables Interface provides the same functionality as Change Tracker, as well as simplifies the creation of new variables and allows variable lists to be configured in script. See Working with the Variables interface for more information.
You might find it useful to script variable folders and store derived variables or other metadata edits in .mtd files. Variable folders provide an effective means of improving data organization and navigation. Change tracker supports the process of automated folder creation through scripting which in turn provides key efficiency benefits.
This section covers the .mrs scripts that support Change Tracker. The SimpleCategorization_Museum.mrs and SimpleCategorization_HouseHold.mrs scripts also support Change Tracker. The files are installed with the UNICOM Intelligence Developer Documentation Library at:
[INSTALL_FOLDER]\IBM\SPSS\DataCollection\7\DDL\Scripts\Tables
See Metadata Services Object Model reference for more information.
