Metadata document (.mdd) files
Translation Utility reads and writes Metadata Document *.mdd files created by authoring tools such as the Build activity in UNICOM Intelligence Interviewer Server, UNICOM Intelligence Professional, UNICOM Intelligence Author, In2form, or Quanquest. These files might be supplied by an external client or project manager who will determine the necessary target languages that will appear in the file, and might attach notes and flags to particular items that require special treatment.
Limits
You cannot create new .mdd files in Translation Utility.
You can enter only translation text and related material into a predefined .mdd file.
You must have read-write access to the .mdd files: you cannot open read-only .mdd files in Translation Utility.
The following .mdd file attributes are not controlled by Translation Utility:
names of items
order of items
tree structure of the file in the Overview window.
If any of these file attributes need to be changed after translation work begins, the version of the .mdd file containing the translated material must be changed in the authoring tool that created the original .mdd file. You cannot change the basic file attributes of a partially translated file in Translation Utility.
