Supported upgrade paths
You can install UNICOM Intelligence 7.5.1 applications on computers where the following UNICOM Intelligence applications are installed, effectively upgrading your current installation:
UNICOM Intelligence 7.5
IBM SPSS Data Collection 6.0.1
IBM SPSS Data Collection 7
IBM SPSS Data Collection 7.0.1
If you are using a version of UNICOM Intelligence earlier than release 6, you must uninstall the older version before installing UNICOM Intelligence 7.5.1 applications. The UNICOM Intelligence 7.5.1 installation program does not support upgrading from UNICOM Intelligence applications earlier than version 6.
Notes
You cannot upgrade 32-bit applications to 64-bit applications. If you want to install UNICOM Intelligence 7.5.1 64-bit edition applications, you must first uninstall any 32-bit UNICOM Intelligence applications you currently have installed. An uninstall will not affect project files or SQL objects. You can install UNICOM Intelligence 7.5.1 after running an uninstall without affecting existing projects.
When upgrading 32-bit applications on a 64-bit system, you must start the installation setup executable (setup.exe) from the installation media's win32 directory (for example, DVD-ROM\autoplay\win32\setup.exe).
Installations using disk imaging or terminal services
With the exception of the Operating System and Microsoft subcomponents, disk imaging installation techniques (such as those accomplished with Symantec’s Ghost or PowerQuest’s Drive Image) cannot be used for UNICOM Intelligence Interviewer - Server servers. UNICOM Intelligence Interviewer - Server has distinct configuration information on a per server basis, so imaging a server after installing UNICOM Intelligence Interviewer - Server is not a viable option for multiple-server installations.
UNICOM Intelligence Interviewer - Server cannot be installed using terminal services such as Citrix remote administration because, unless XP terminal services are used, the user that is logged on does not have rights to start services as the interactive user. UNICOM Intelligence Interviewer - Server can, however, be installed remotely using a program such as Remote Desktop.
Installations on a domain controller
Installing UNICOM Intelligence Interviewer - Server on a domain controller is not recommended. There are known issues with .NET running on domain controllers and there might be an additional security risk if IIS runs on a domain controller that is accessible from the internet.
If there is no choice but to install on a domain controller, and the scriptwriters who will be using the client installation are in another domain, see Installation procedure.
