Monitoring interview engines
To monitor the system while taking actual interviews, you can use either a URL monitoring service, or the CheckEngine project and monitoring script that are included with the DDL. The CheckEngine project and script also check that a template has been applied successfully.
To set up the project and the monitoring script
1 Activate the CheckEngine.mdd and CheckEngine.htm files from the DDL. They are in the following folder:
[INSTALL_FOLDER]\IBM\SPSS\DataCollection\7\DDL\Scripts\Interview\Utilities\CheckEngine
2 Edit the CheckEngine.mrs file: replace the #defines at the top of the script, and then make any other changes that are appropriate for your system.
3 Edit the EmailConfigFile.txt file: specify the email addresses to send the fail and success messages to.
4 Schedule the CheckEngine.mrs script.
5 Make sure that you delete respondent data records regularly, so that the database does not become too big.
