Errors when trying to ping computers in a cluster
If computers in a cluster cannot ping one another, the problem is usually due to the security set up between those computers.
The message “Request timed out” usually occurs if there is a firewall blocking communication between the two computers.
The message “Ping request could not find host <server_name>. Please check the name and try again” usually occurs when a firewall or security setting is preventing certain communications from the DMZ (demilitarized zone) to the main network or to trusted computers. A typical example of this is when the Interviewing server can ping the Web server, but the Web server cannot ping the Interviewing server.
Try connecting to the computer by typing http://<computer_name> into your browser instead.
