Edit Axis dialog
Use the Edit Axis dialog to specify how a variable appears in the current table. If you want to make changes that will be stored in the variable for future tables, use the Edit Variable dialog, which you open using Variables > Edit.
The dialog has two or three tabs, depending on the variable's data type. The information on these tabs defines how the variable appears in the current table.
To open the Edit Axis dialog
1 In the main UNICOM Intelligence Survey Tabulation window, select the Define tab.
2 In the graphical area of the Table Definition section, select the required variable.
3 From the Table Definition toolbar, choose the Edit Axis icon Edit Axis icon.
Edit tab
This is the first tab and is available for all variable types. This tab lists the items that will be shown in the table for the variable and makes it easy to add, change, and reorder the items.
See Edit Variable dialog: Edit tab.
Banding tab
This is available for numeric variables only and makes it easy to group the numeric values into categories.
See Edit Variable dialog: Banding tab
Script tab
This is available for all variable types and shows the axis specification in the form of a script. Advanced users can optionally define the axis specification on this tab.
See Edit Variable dialog: Script tab.
Notes
You cannot edit loops and grids in this dialog. However, if you are using the hierarchical view, you can edit their labels in the Edit Variable dialog (see Edit Variable dialog).
This dialog changes how the variable appears in only the current table. If you subsequently make any changes to the variable's axis expression in the Edit Variable dialog, those changes are not applied to this table. (However, if you change the variable’s label in the Edit Variable dialog, the changed label will be applied to this table next time you populate it.)
For more information on using this dialog, see Changing the items shown in the table.
