Changing the types of variables displayed in the Variable List
You can change the types of variables that are displayed in the Variable List. This is useful when you are working in a data set that has a large number of variables. By hiding variable types that are not relevant to the work you are doing, fewer variables will be shown in the list and you might therefore find it easier to find the variables you need. For example, you might want to hide weighting, filter, and source file variables when you are creating tables on the Define tab.
1 Click Tools > Options, and then click Variable List.
The Variable List Options dialog opens.
2 In the lower part of the List View Options section, select Modify.
The Modify Variable Types To Display dialog opens.
3 Select the variable types you want to display in the Available Variable Types list, and then click Add.
4 Click OK.
