Getting started
When you open an empty questionnaire, the next step is to define its content.
These instructions assume that you define each question in full before inserting the next question. If you prefer, you can define the basics for every question using just the Edit tab, and then fill in the Advanced and Presentation details for each question.
Build saves your changes to the current item when you move to another item, so there is no Save facility. However, if you are making a number of changes to a item you can click Apply to save the changes you have made so far.
1 Click Click here to insert first item.
The New Item dialog opens.
2 Choose the item type for the first question, and then click OK.
Build selects the Edit tab and displays a form asking for information about the item. The fields include a item name and, for questions, a question text. Other fields vary depending on the type of item you are creating.
3 Complete the fields on the form.
4 Click the Advanced tab.
The item definition form shows other settings that you might define for the current item. Some item types do not have advanced settings; in these cases the form that you see is the same as the one you saw when you created the item. Usually, you need to set advanced options for only single response, multiple response, numeric, and grid questions.
5 On the Presentation tab, specify how the question should be displayed during the interview.
6 Return to the Edit tab, and then click Insert Item when you are ready to start the next question.
