Troubleshooting
Boxes instead of element texts on the build filter window
Windows 2000 uses codepages to determine how to display characters in different languages. The codepages for each language or language type are different, and characters that appear in one codepage might not be present in another codepage. For example, a Western European codepage might not have all the characters that are required for displaying Japanese texts.
Your computer is set up with a default codepage that corresponds to the language in which you normally work. For example, if your normal language is English, your default codepage will probably be the Western European codepage.
Survey Results HTML pages are encoded using UTF-8 encoding which, in most cases, causes any characters that are not on the default codepage to be displayed correctly. However, on Windows 2000, you might also need to add the project language in which you are working to your regional settings in order for this encoding to process the element texts for categorical filters correctly.
You will know if you have to make this change because when you choose a single or multiple response variable as a filter, the element selection frame will display boxes instead of text for the element labels.
To add a language to your regional settings
1 From the Control Panel select Regional Options.
2 On the General tab, in Language Settings for the System, select the language that is being displayed incorrectly.
Survey Results does not update after a project is reactivated
When a project that includes new questions is reactivated, it might take up to 10 minutes before the project changes are visible in the Survey Results activity. The delay is caused by the globally cached MDM Document object and mrRDBConnection. The Survey Results activity uses both objects, which are shared with other activities. During reactivation, the MDM Document cache is refreshed, but the mrRDBConnnection object does not refresh until it expires (10 minutes).
When new questions are added into the project MDD, and reactivated, the updates are immediately visible in the Survey Results activity. However, when the question metadata in a project MDD is updated, the updates might not be visible for up to 10 minutes.
