Creating multiple similar tables quickly
You can create several tables using the same variables on the top axis. When you do this, the top axis is sometimes called the banner or breakdown and typically contains demographic variables. This topic explains how to create multiple tables; each table cross tabulates a single variable against the same banner.
As an example, this topic provides instructions for creating ten tables that have the same banner created from the age and gender variables.
1 Start a new table and switch to the Define tab.
2 On the Table List toolbar, click the Create table icon.
This adds a new table to the Table List, selects it, and if necessary, switches to the Define tab.
Next, create the banner.
3 In the Variable List, select the age variable and then Ctrl+click to also select the gender variable.
4 Click Click to add in the Top axis or drag the icon next to either of the two variables and drop it on Click to add in the Top axis.
You have now finished defining the structure of the banner on the top axis.
Next, create multiple tables.
5 In the Variable List, click in the heading of the icon column, to sort the variables by their type.
6 Select ten categorical variables using standard Windows multiple select techniques; for example, using Shift+click or Ctrl+click.
7 Click the Create multiple tables icon or drag the icon next to any of the selected variables and drop them on the icon.
This creates one table for each of the selected variables. Each table has one of the selected variables on the side axis and the gender and age banner on the top axis. Notice that the new tables have been added to the table list.
