Filter dialog
Use the Filter dialog to define new filters and change existing filters. You can also save filters to use as variables when you create tables.
In the top part of the dialog you define the filter's name and description. You cannot change the name of an existing filter. When you create a new filter, UNICOM Intelligence Reporter - Survey Tabulation generates a name. You can change the name: see
Naming conventions.
If you are using the hierarchical view of the data, you cannot change the
level of the filter after you have started defining the filter, so make sure you set the level before you start. You select the level using the
Level option on the menu on the right side of the dialog. If there is another filter defined for a table, there are restrictions on which level you can choose for a new filter. For more information, see
Filtering hierarchical data.
The Variable List lists the variables in your data set. For more information, see
The variable list.
When you select a variable, the upper part of the right side of the dialog varies according to the type of variable you have selected. Use this section of the dialog to define the filter condition for the variable. For more information, see
Defining the conditions.
In normal mode, the conditions are displayed on separate lines. You can select a line to change or remove it. For more information, see
Combining conditions.
▪In advanced mode, the filter is shown as a raw filter expression, which you can edit.
▪In normal mode, the menu provides the following options:
Remove All
Removes the entire filter expression.
Remove Line
Removes one line of the filter expression. Select a line to remove before choosing this option.
Level
Select the level of the filter. This is relevant only if you are using the hierarchical view of the data. You cannot change the level after you have started defining the filter, so make sure you set the level before you start. Note that if there is another filter defined for a table, there are restrictions on which level you can choose for a new filter. For more information, see
Filtering hierarchical data.
Displays more menu options, including a Less>> option that you can use to hide the options again.

Validates the full filter.
View

View Expression.
Advanced Edit
Use the Filter dialog in advanced mode. Once you are in advanced mode, you cannot return to normal mode for this filter. For more information, see
