Edit Category dialog
You use the Edit Category dialog to define and change the expression for a user defined category. The top part of the dialog displays the name and label for the category. To open the Edit Category dialog, select the category on the Edit tab in the Edit Variable dialog (see Edit Variable dialog, the New Variable dialog (see New Variable dialog), or Edit Axis dialog (see Edit Axis dialog, and then click Edit Item in the Specification column.
If you are using the hierarchical view of the data, the expression's level is controlled by the level of the variable to which the item belongs. If you use the Advanced view of this dialog, you need to ensure that all variables are at this level. For more information, see Filtering hierarchical data.
On the left side of the dialog is the Variable List. Just like the Variable List in the Define tab, this lists the variables in your data set and it has the same features for sorting, finding variables, and changing the columns and types of variables that are displayed. For more information, see The variable list.
When you select a variable in the Variable List, the upper part of the right side of the dialog enables you to define the condition for that variable. This section varies according to the type of variable you have selected. For more information, see Defining the conditions.
Below this are the menus and details of the conditions you have already defined. When you are using the dialog in normal mode, the conditions are displayed on separate lines. You can select a line to change or remove it. For more information, see Combining conditions. When you are using the dialog in advanced mode, the expression is shown in a box as a raw expression, which you can edit.
