Often you will find that you need the same default options for a series of jobs. You can either write an a statement for each job or you can set up a file which defines default options for one or more jobs.

This file, known as the default options file, should contain only an a statement listing any of the options described above. Depending on the file’s location, these defaults will refer either to all jobs run at an installation or just to one particular job. For more information, see Default options file.
