Sum of factors
Quick reference
To create an element whose value is the sum of the factors used in the other elements of the table, type:
n13[element_text]
More information
The sum of factors created by an n13 is similar to the mean (n12) except that there is no division by the number of respondents. The calculation merely involves taking each row and multiplying the number of respondents in that row by the factor defined by fac= or inc=, and then adding these results together to get the sum of factors for all respondents.
In the examples used for means, the sum of factors where factors of +2 to –2 were used is 48, but the sum of factors when they are 5 to 1 is 255.
