Summary of startup sequences
This table presents side-by-side sequences for a solidDB HotStandby (HSB) installation with the High Availability Controller (HAC) and for an installation without HAC:

Installation without HAC
Step 1. Configure HSB servers
Step 1. Configure HSB servers
Step 2. Configure the HAC on both nodes
Step 3. Start HAC on both nodes
Step 4. Switch HSB roles, if necessary
Step 2. Start HSB servers on both nodes
Step 3. Switch the state of the database server to PRIMARY ALONE
Step 4. Connect the primary server to the secondary server
Step 5. If connect fails, copy the database from the primary server to the secondary server
Step 6. After the copy completes, try to connect the servers again
The solidDB server package includes samples for running demonstrations of the HSB component with HAC or the sample watchdog implementations.
