ArchiMate Layered Viewpoint
The Layered Viewpoint is ArchiMate’s “Everything” viewpoint, to enable you to provide an overview in one diagram.
ArchiMate recommends grouping architecture artifacts into:
Dedicated layers – including technology, application, process, and actor/role – that expose a layer of services by means of the “realization” relationship.
Service layers that each dedicated layer realizes.
Using this Layered Viewpoint you can separate internal structure of a dedicated layer from its externally observable behavior expressed as the service layer that the dedicated layer realizes.
This viewpoint enables impact analysis and performance analysis of services, and enables understanding of the need to extend the service portfolio.
All ArchiMate elements can be drawn on this diagram.
