Data elements are created from columns in the physical data model. Data elements belong to an encyclopedia; they are not unique to a model, an entity, or table. Therefore, a data element can already exist with the name of a column in the physical model.
Two data elements could be encountered when an entity relationship diagram is created that have the same name, datatype, and qualifier.
Create a new element
Click this option to use the properties of this element, which is named [CurrentName-nnn] where nnn is a unique number.
Overwrite
Click this option to overwrite the existing data element definition with the properties of this one.
Do not prompt in the future
Select this check box to not be asked about collisions, and for new definitions to be created for all collisions. This selection persists for the current session only. All other dictionary objects are keyed by the name of the entity relation diagram. These objects include entities, attributes, relation lines, and indexes.
