Generating OV-2 node connectivity diagrams from OV-5 activity models
You can use the OV-5 Activity Model to OV-2 utility to generate an OV-2 node connectivity diagram from a selected OV-5 activity model.
Prerequisite
There must be at least one OV-5 Activity diagram in the current encyclopedia. The diagram must have Activities and ICOM Arrows with Information Exchange definitions attached. The ICOM Arrows must have at least one source Activity and one destination Activity but can have more than one, of either sources or destinations if necessary. The ICOM Arrow must also be an output from the source Activity and an input to the destination Activity.
The Operational Nodes must already be defined in the encyclopedia. These nodes will have been defined with their corresponding Operational Activities if you ran the Import IER Matrix Definitions prior to running this utility.
When you select a top-level OV-5 activity model, the utility retrieves all child diagrams of the selected OV-5 diagram for generation. From the OV-5 activity model, ICOM arrows that have information exchanges attached are collected together with their appropriate source and destination activities. From these, the appropriate operational nodes are located, placed on the diagram, and then connected with the appropriate needlines based on the information exchanges.
Procedure
1 Click Tools > DoDAF Utilities.
2 Click OV-5 Activity Model to OV-2.
A list of top-level OV-5 activity model diagrams is displayed.
3 Select one or more of the OV-5 activity model diagrams as a source for generation; then click Run
From each selection a separate OV-2 diagram will be created.
4 Enter a name for each diagram to be created, and then click OK.
The OV-2 diagrams are generated with operational nodes, and needlines with the appropriate information exchanges.
