Aligning assets to the SRM
To align assets to the Security Reference Model (SRM), use the SRM Categorization of Asset matrix in the FEAF2 matrix set. To do so:
1 Select View > Matrix Browser.
2 In the Matrix Browser dialog, select the FEAF 2 matrix set, notated by the red star at the bottom of the dialog.
This graphic is described in the surrounding text.
3 Select the SRM Categorization of Asset matrix.
4 Optionally filter the set of assets that you will see in the matrix by specifying the value of a property that should be met, or simply click Next and Finish to get a full matrix.
5 In the matrix, toggle the cell of the intersection of assets that meet an SRM Category. An X is placed in the cell.
6 You can optionally right-click the cell an open the cell definition – in this case the Consolidated Reference Model (CRM) SRM Categorization definition.
Note The CRM SRM Categorization definition does not include much additional information out of the box – however you can customize the metamodel to specify, for example, to what degree the asset meets the categorization, and so on.
Out of the box, System Architect enables you to categorize the following asset types against FEAF 2 SRM Categories through the SRM Categorization of Asset matrix:
