For the NAF v4 framework, the automatic Assign Connections mode has been turned on. System Architect will automatically determine the best routing for lines drawn between symbols, as you draw. (This mode is normally turned on by selecting Format > Diagram Auto Routing > Assign Connections.)

This mode can be turned off by selecting Format > Diagram Auto Routing > Off.

This mode can be changed to Retain Connections (Format, Diagram Auto Routing, Retain Connections) so that System Architect automatically routes lines, but keeps the point to point connections you made on symbols.
