A Nonidentifying Relation symbol is a dashed line. A non-identifying relationship exists between a parent entity and a child entity when the primary key data of the parent entity does not automatically become a primary key of the child entity. The key data for the parent entity can be passed on as nonkey data to the child entity in a non-identifying relationship.
