Pixel
From "pictures" or "pix," and "elements." The smallest part of the video screen that can be turned on or off or varied in intensity. If your monitor is in color, a pixel is three dots together, or clusters of red, green and blue. VGA has 640 pixels across by 480; Super VGA has 800 by 600 or 1024 by 768. The greater the number of pixels, the higher the resolution.
