Running System Architect when System Architect XT is also installed
Because both applications use the same executable, sa2001.exe, launching that executable from shortcuts or directly from the application folder works differently. When only System Architect is installed, the executable always runs in “noisy” mode, meaning the product is launched with the user interface. However, when you also install System Architect XT on the same computer, clicking on the executable file in the application folder launches System Architect XT in “quiet” mode, without the user interface.
To run System Architect with the user interface, use the shortcuts in the Windows Start menu, or in the Desktop (if you chose to have one created there when you installed System Architect). Those shortcuts contain a parameter in the Target property to run the application in noisy mode, as follows:
There are no shortcuts provided to run System Architect XT in noisy mode. However, when only System Architect XT is installed, you can create a shortcut to run it in noisy node by creating a shortcut for it with the parameter above. Normally, System Architect XT runs in “silent” mode
If you uninstall System Architect XT, these shortcuts are not affected and System Architect continues to run with the user interface.
