With the template already created, the next set of steps is to select the content that will go into the reports.
1 In the Document Specification pane, under the Data Sources pane, expand the Templates node, and the Data Sources* node.
2 Click the Data Source that you created in the Creating report templates section above.
3 In the Properties pane, click the URI property and enter the URI for your encyclopedia. The URI must be in the format below, for example:
http://localhost:8889/SARest/SQL/ibm/Samples/1
Note For offline encyclopedias, in this step, you would select Generic XML, then enter or browse for XML file of the encyclopedia generated from System Architect.
4 Select the encyclopedia objects from the Data Source Schema pane onto the <Template Name> pane.
Optionally, select the Output* and Target* options. As shown below, if you do not configure these settings, they are marked in red, and the output will be generated to Temp folder of the current user, with unique names for each output. Output generated to the Temp folder will be lost if you do not copy the output files, including the img folder and stylesheets, to a permanent folder.
The Document Specification pane enables you to select live data source. It also, lets you enter information to control the output formats and locations (see the IBM Rational Publishing Engine online help for more information). Entering this output information is required to use the TOGAF9 report templates installed with System Architect. These are the Business Services.dta and the Business Services and Associated Logical Application Components.dta templates, in:
Some of the parameters required for TOGAF 9 reports are as follows:
Output
If you do not specify and output path, the output is it is considered un-configured and marked in red. IBM Rational Publishing Engine will generate unique names for each output type in the current user temp folder. Additionally, if you do not provide an output path, and save the HTML output to a different folder, you also need to copy the additional files generated (the img folder and the stylesheets).
Word
Select the Word output. For the Stylesheet property select the Word template file, rpe.dot, which is installed with Rational Publishing Engine. The Word template file is located in the default installation path:
You should use the same settings for any other reports that use the Word macros that Rational Publishing Engine provides for formatting.
Missing data text
If the value of a report field is empty, the report format displays “<data attribute not found>” by default. If you want to display different text, or none at all, proceed as follows: in the Document Specification pane, select the node. In the Properties pane, select the missing data text property and in the Value field, remove the default text or enter your preferred text.
5 Save the Document Template.
The template is now ready to be used to generate a live report.
