Connect
The Connect command on the Catalog menu enables you to select the server type, server name, server authentication method, and to enter your login credentials for accessing the server.
For more information on logging into System Architect Catalog Manager, see Initializing System Architect Catalog Manager.
Create
The Create command in the Catalog menu creates a new catalog.
You can only create one catalog per server, and you must posses the proper rights on each server in which you want to create a catalog.
Destroy
The Destroy command in the Catalog menu detaches all encyclopedias from the catalog and also destroys all catalog objects.
When running this command, a drop-down list displays a list of catalogs you are enabled to destroy. You cannot destroy a catalog while a user is working on one of its attached encyclopedias.
Copy
The Copy command in the Catalog menu copies a catalog from one server onto another.
You must possess rights to create a catalog on the target server, and only roles and their assigned permissions are copied over.
Import
The Import command in the Catalog menu imports catalog content from an XML file. Users, roles, encyclopedias, and all their relationships are imported.
This command is useful as a means of creating catalog backups.
Export
The Export command in the Catalog menu exports catalog content to an XML file. Users, roles, encyclopedias, and all their relationships are exported.
This command is useful as a means of creating catalog backups.
Search SQL Servers
The list of catalogs that Catalog Manager can view is recreated whenever the application is started. It is also refreshed when you create or destroy a catalog. The Search SQL Servers command lets you manually refresh the list of available catalogs.
