Creating a data structure
A data structure can be created only through the Explorer (see Adding a definition through the Explorer) or through the main menu (see Adding definitions to an encyclopedia). You cannot add a new data structure through the attribute grid in an entity definition; however, you can drag in existing data structures into the grid.
To add a data structure to the attribute grid
1 With an Entity definition open, click the Attributes tab.
2 Click Choices button. You are presented with a list of data elements and data structures that are already in the project encyclopedia (the type is listed beside the name in parenthesis).
3 Browse the details of the elements or structures in the list: right‑click in the Select and Drag list dialog, and then click Details.
4 Drag the data structure into an empty row in the grid’s Data box.
To show data structures in the attribute grid
When first entered into the grid, the data structure is presented in a single row. You can expand the structure to display all of its data elements in the grid.
Right‑click the Data column of the data structure in the grid, and then click Expand.
The data structure will be expanded: replaced in the grid by its individual data elements.
The Source Data Structure column contains the name of the structure the data element belongs to. (This column is on the right; you might have to scroll the grid to see it).
