For Professional encyclopedias, all users can create views.
For Enterprise encyclopedias, the default setting is to allow users to create views.
The System Architect Administrator, through System Architect Catalog Manager, can control the ability of users to create or see views. By assigning a view to a role, you make the view visible to users assigned that role.
Availability of views to users
When you create a view, it is stored as a definition in the encyclopedia. Everyone can see this view definition if they look in the classic Explorer Browser or Explorer All tab.
When you create a pane, and put views on it, or add or rearranges views on an existing pane, those choices can only be seen by you, and are stored in their profile (in the sa_usrviews.xml file). To share those Pane layout choices, distribute the sa_usrviews.xml file to all users to store in their profiles. With care, the file can be edited to copy individual blocks. You must reopen the Explorer to have it reload the file.
When you create a dynamic view, you link the view to one or more Dynamic View Report definitions. Because these are definitions, they are available to anyone else who opens the encyclopedia. Existence of a Dynamic View Report does not, by itself, render a view for a user.
Sharing views across encyclopedias
Static views and dynamic views are definitions so you can theoretically move them from encyclopedia to encyclopedia. However, moving static views between encyclopedias works only if the referenced objects exist and have the same GUID and this will be so unless items have been recreated. You can move a dynamic view between encyclopedias, but when you run that dynamic view, it returns different results based on the information in the encyclopedia that it is in.
