A Project Context Diagram shows Projects and their interrelationships to other aspects of the architecture. There are several diagram types that you can use to model Projects:
•Project Context Diagram.
•Explorer Diagram – allows you to visualize Projects and their breakdown.
•Roadmap Diagram – a timeline, Gantt-Chart view of a Project and its milestones.
•Roadmap Marker Diagram – a timeline of a Project and its active time periods and milestones.
Program, Project, and Work Package definitions
In the TOGAF metamodel:
A Program:
•Supports Development of Investments.
•Consists of Projects and Work Packages.
A Project:
•Is Part of a Program.
•Can be fulfilled by one or more Work Packages.
•Has an owning Line of Business (Organization Unit definition).
•Has strategic Drivers.
•Has one or more Sources (Roles).
•Has Critical Success Factors.
•Fields Product Versions.
•Has Roadmap Dates.
•You can specify Roadmap Events with Dates in the Project’s Roadmap tab, and visualize the dates as milestones on a Project Roadmap Diagram.
•Alternatively, you can specify Project Time Periods (Start and End dates, and Milestone dates) and visualize the dates on a Roadmap Marker Diagram.
A Work Package:
•Is Part of a Program or a Project.
•Delivers new Capabilities.
Project Context Diagram type
The Project Context Diagram type enables you to visualize Programs, Projects, and Work Packages in a hierarchy. It is a hierarchical diagram type in System Architect – enabling you to model relationships through the easy plug-and-play drawing, wherein you connect two definition types by moving one underneath another until they auto-connect.

Create a Project Context Diagram through an Explorer Diagram by performing these steps:
1 Create a new diagram of type Explorer of type Network, and TOGAF Viewpoint of “Generic” or “Project Context Diagram”.
2 From the Explorer tree, drag a Program definition that you are investigating onto the diagram.
3 Right-click the Program symbol, and select Show Immediate Relatives.
4 Continue selecting related definitions and selecting Show Immediate Relatives to fan out the diagram.
