History
History status
The History command enables you to track the history of the definitions created in a particular database encyclopedia. This can be turned on through SAEM for the Entity and Files tables. Use one of these options:
Option
Description
Disabled
Specifies that it is not enabled for this database encyclopedia in the respective History table.
Lite
Specifies that only selected details of the table should be logged in the respective History table.
Full
Specifies that all the details of the table should be logged in the respective History table.
To enable the History tables for a database
1 Select any database on the local server (by choosing Database, Select Database or select one from the drop-down menu in the database toolbar.
2 Select Tools, History, Status.
3 Select the above options for the Entity/Files table.
From the point that History is turned on, changes to definitions are tracked.
4 In System Architect, you can see the History of a particular definition, and revert back to any previous version of it, by clicking on the History button in the upper right-hand corner of the definition dialog.
History purge
The Purge History dialog offers these methods of deleting the history status of the definitions that appear in a database encyclopedia.
Option
Description
Purge all records on or before
Delete the history on or before a particular date.
Purge all records from
Choose between a particular time frame.
Create snapshot purging all records on or before
Delete all records on or before a particular time frame and leaving only the latest record for each entity/file name until either the beginning of the table is reached or a previous snapshot record for that entity/file name is reached.
Click Preview to open the Records to Purge dialog, where you can view your choices and decide whether you want to permanently delete those records.
Viewing history for files
To view the history for files, for example deleting a diagram or modifying a definition:
1 Select Tools, History, Purge.
2 In the Purge History dialog, select an option, and then click Preview.
The Records to Purge dialog appears. Click the Files tab to view the diagram files changes that have been made.
