Reporting system overview
The reporting system provides dozens of pre-written reports that are contained within a number of .RPT files. You can access these reports through the Reports menu choice within the tool, and easily select and run them without modification.
Creating new reports or modifying existing ones
The Reporting System offers a graphical user interface to build your own reports, or modify existing ones. The user interface enables you to navigate System Architect’s metamodel, and build reports that are written in a SQL-based language. Although the graphical user interface is easy to use, in order to write a complicated report, some knowledge of the encyclopedia metamodel and underlying semantic relationships is generally necessary.
Output
The Reporting System enables you to publish reports in a number of ways: printing them to a printer, generating them to HTML using an XSL stylesheet, or generating them to text format.
Reporting system tutorials
The Reporting System tutorial takes you step-by-step through the Report Editor to create a new report. See Reporting system tutorial: In brief.
In the ‘Tutorials’ part of the online help, Report generation and publishing covers running a prewritten report, creating your own report using the GUI Report Editor, and publishing a report in HTML.
